Private Therapy Intensives: a different form of therapy.

A focused space for clarity, regulation and meaningful change

There are times when weekly therapy feels too fragmented, and times when talking things through alone no longer brings clarity. You may be functioning well on the outside, yet internally feel stuck- caught in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, indecision or quiet dissatisfaction.

Private intensives offer a contained, reflective space to pause, take stock, and reset direction.

These sessions draw on a biopsychosocial framework, integrating psychological insight, nervous-system awareness, values-based work and practical goal development. Rather than focusing on trauma processing, intensives are designed for people who are psychologically stable but at a crossroads- individuals who want to understand what is maintaining current patterns and take responsibility for meaningful change.

Many people find that this format helps them see patterns more clearly, reconnect with what matters, and leave with a stronger sense of agency and direction. Private therapy intensives are designed for these moments.

An intensive offers a longer, uninterrupted space to pause, reflect and work at depth. Rather than spreading the work over many weeks, an intensive creates a contained environment in which patterns can be explored, understood and integrated in one focused piece of work.

What is a private therapy intensive?

A private intensive is an extended one-to-one session, typically lasting around three and a half hours (with breaks built in). It allows time to settle the nervous system, explore what feels stuck or unresolved, and move towards greater clarity and direction.

This is not ‘more therapy, faster’, and it is not crisis intervention. Instead, it is a reflective and integrative space for people who are curious psychologically and at a point of transition or questioning.

Many people describe it as a chance to step out of the momentum of everyday life and reset and reconnect with what really matters.

Who are intensives helpful for?

Private intensives can be particularly helpful if you:

• Feel stuck in anxiety, overthinking or rumination

• Are facing an important decision or life transition

• Notice repeating patterns in relationships or work

• Feel disconnected from yourself despite external success

• Want a focused, meaningful exploration rather than ongoing weekly sessions

Without generalising too much, they often suit busy people or professionals, creatives and people with high-levels of responsibility who struggle to find space to reflect deeply within busy lives.

What happens in an intensive?

Each intensive is tailored to the individual, but typically includes:

• Time to arrive, slow down and regulate the nervous system

• Exploration of current difficulties, patterns, scripts and pressures

• Integrative therapeutic work drawing on psychological, emotional and relational understanding

• Reflection on meaning, values and responsibility

• Support with integration, insight and next steps

The pace is thoughtful rather than rushed, with space for silence, reflection and synthesis.

Fees

3.5 Hour Private Therapy Intensive: £550

This includes:

• A pre-intensive discussion to clarify focus and suitability

• A three-hour one-to-one session with breaks built in

• Careful containment and integration of the work

• A brief written reflection or summary following the session

This includes preparation, the intensive session itself, and a brief written summary or reflection following the session.

Longer intensives are offered occasionally and are suited to more complex transitions or situations where longer, uninterrupted exploration feels important.

Psychological intensives can take place in therapy office or in your own home.
